If so, we want to talk with you!   Position Summary The Senior Associate / Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of project delivery including providing professional management and project planning, budget management, profitability management, coordination with members of the project team, and working collaboratively with the client on an on-going basis. This position is also required to participate in new business opportunities by seeking new work and partnering with the Marketing Manager to develop proposals. Location: Oakland, CA or Orange, CA areas.
  1. Project Management
  • Develop project strategies consistent with client objectives
  • Initiate and lead project kick-off meetings and debrief meetings at the conclusion of a project.
  • Manage project planning and process approach.
  • Manage preparation and completion of project deliverables and activities.
  • Determine and coordinate resource and staffing needs for each assignment, delegate work tasks appropriately.
  • Maintain weekly tracking document of staff assignments for projects
  • Maintain a three-month look ahead of assignments for staff per project.
  • Maintain effective team communication about changes in the objectives, scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Manage scope and budget for proposals:
  • Review project contract and ensure that project delivery meets the contract’s expectations for deliverables and budget.
  • Ensure that costs are kept in line with the original budget for time, travel, and material expenses.
  • Ensure appropriate utilization of staff.
  • Implement cost controls to maximize the profit margin on individual projects.
  • Assist management team with maintaining utilization targets for junior staff.
  1. Team Development
  • Manage, coach, and motivate the project team.
  • Give appropriate and timely feedback to staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews for Associates and/or Coordinators.
  1. Client Relations
  • Partner with clients to understand and achieve their goals.
  • Initiate and maintain positive client relations.
  • Prepare accurate and thorough progress reports.
4. Marketing
  • Produce a growing level of new and repeat business.
  • Presenting and communicating the capabilities and strengths of the company to all clients.
  • Meet regularly with key clients to discuss current projects, evaluate firm performance, and identify other business opportunities.
  • Target potential or existing clients, set up meetings, and identify new projects that may exist or are being formulated.
  • Write marketing materials to support new business development and create project scopes, budgets, and schedules for proposals.
  • Collaborate with the principals and proposal team to develop win themes and teaming strategies.
  • Prepare for and participate in project interviews.
  • Work on contract negotiations.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings when appropriate.
Office location can be Oakland, CA or Orange, CA.

Required Skills / Experience / Education

• Degree in communications, journalism, or related field • 5-7 years of experience in the field • Solid background and understanding in providing strategic communication • Accomplished writer of business and public information materials • Client service orientated • Strong client management and development skills • Effective, efficient project management skills • Effective marketing skills • Strong communication and presentation skills, as well as knowledge and understanding of the application of social media • Strong planning and organization skills • High-quality product and service delivery • Team leadership, motivation, and delegation skills • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects • Proficient in MS Office • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record • Travel during workday, at nights, and on weekends to public meetings and events, typically 1-2 times per month • Physical demands include ability to lift and carry meeting and event supplies up to 20 pounds, typically to and from vehicle and event location. • Work environment is office setting and occasional work at public events

Salary Range

$96,000-$128,000
