We are looking for a talented Senior to Principal-level zoning specialist to join our team shaping cities across California! Position and Responsibilities The planner will work primarily on zoning assignments, which include comprehensive new citywide regulations as well as those with a specific focus, such as transit-oriented development, downtown districts, urban agriculture, parking, or sustainable development practices or form-based codes. Assignments will also include crafting affordable housing incentives, community benefits programs, objective design and development standards, and sign and subdivision ordinances. Candidates must enjoy zoning work, have a firm grasp of legal and technical underpinnings of zoning, and have demonstrated ability in code writing. California experience and understanding of State regulations is required. Experience in administering zoning and development regulations is desirable. Urban design expertise and understanding of built form is a plus. We are interested in candidates with exceptional writing, analytical, graphic and communication skills, who communicate effectively and are comfortable in public and decision-maker meetings. This is a hybrid WFH/office position. Successful candidate will need to be based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area. Salary and Benefits Salary will be commensurate with experience, with starting salary, inclusive of bonus, expected in the range of $125,000 (Senior Planner) to $165,000 (Associate Principal) or higher for more experienced candidates. Qualifications and Experience Ideal candidate will have a Master of City Planning and/or a JD, with minimum five years’ experience for Senior Planner and 10 years’ experience for appointment at Principal level.US Citizenship Required?
